"Helping preserve the past for future generations since 1989"

Objectives
To collect, preserve, exhibit and publish materials for the study of history, especially the history of the Village of Lakefield. This collection is in trust for the community and all items are to remain in the community

We hope to create an awareness in people of the part they can play, and their part in our History. We need community help in preserving and recording our history and seek acceptance, support and promotion from residents and the community.
We cover the history of Lakefield and the immediate area from pioneer beginnings circa 1820 to the present day.

History is not only years ago, today will be tomorrow's history. Your own experiences and memories are part of history! Share them with us!

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Lakefield Historical Society Help Center
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I PLAN ON SPENDING FOR A VISIT TO LAKEFIELD HISTORICAL SOCIETY?
Currently we plan for 6 in person meetings per year held in the upper hall of branch 77 Legion in Lakefield Ontario. Plan to spend about 2 hours per meeting, although often folks come early or hang around to talk while the chairs are being put away. (Meetings are currently suspended until the fall of 2022 due to restrictions from the Covid-19 pandemic)
IS LAKEFIELD HISTORICAL SOCIETY SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?
Children typically become interested in history about aged 13. We have no restriction on children of any age attending our meetings, but some younger children may find the format boring if they have limited interest in the subject matter. Presenters often bring children or younger family members where family history is part of their presentation.
IS LAKEFIELD HISTORICAL SOCIETY WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
Yes, an elevator is available on the west side of the building.
