My name is Michael Chappell and I was born in Peterborough and grew up in Lakefield (1950's - 60's) before moving to the Toronto GTA to attend school and to work. i was employed in the Civil Engineering field for several years, developing, designing and constructing homes and infrastructure across Ontario. I eventually joined the Ontario Government as an executive with the Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL), and finished my career as a Professor in the School of Occupational Health and Safety and Chang School with Ryerson University. At Ryerson I taught Investigative Techniques, hazard Recognition and Control, and Safety Evaluation techniques to both day students and continuing education students for more than 20 years. My wife and I retired and moved back to Lakefield in 2017 and I became President of The Lakefield Historical Society in 2019.
My interest in history is lifelong, and I feel passionate that we must preserve memories both to build our future, but also to recognize the tremendous accomplishments of our forefathers. Join me on this journey and be part of history!
