Dedication of monument to honour Lakefield WWII veterans

After many many years of dreaming and months of planning, the Lakefield Historical Society was able to complete this project in conjunction with the the Lakefield Legion (Branch 77). This monument renews an older one that was hand-painted by Lakefield Residents and taken down some years ago after it weathered.

It means a great deal to us to renew this expression of our gratitude for the sacrifice made by that generation, so this generation could enjoy our freedoms.

To all those who led, contributed, dreamed, toiled, gave, organized, volunteered, celebrated, acknowledged, remembered and mourned, we all, with gratitude and humbleness, thank you.

To those who contributed to making this a reality, know that your gift has made a difference to our community.

And to those who gave of their time, volunteered, participated and served, we also thank you for your efforts.
